Forbes Australia tells the Arkeus story: from a Melbourne garage to a $100 million valuation

May 15, 2026

Forbes Australia covered the story behind how Arkeus, a company built in a single-car garage in Melbourne grew into one developing the eyes and brains of autonomous systems and what comes next following our A$25 million Series A raise.

Written by Mark Whittaker, this piece tells the story of how Arkeus began with a problem that our founders witnessed firsthand: drone operators drowning in data, with legacy sensors and software unable to deliver clarity in the environments where decisions matter most.

That insight drove the development of our hyperspectral optical radar technology — designed to help autonomous systems see, understand and act in real time, even in degraded and contested conditions where traditional sensors struggle.

Looking forward at the scale of what comes next: manufacturing operations in Queensland and the United States, expansion across allied defence markets and continued integration with major autonomous platforms from AV, Textron, TEKEVER, Resolute ISR and Boeing subsidiary Insitu Inc.

Thank you to our investors, QIC, R+ VC, Folklore Ventures, DYNE Ventures, Main Sequence, Salus Ventures and Beaten Zone Venture Partners, for backing the next chapter of Arkeus.
